After connecting Claude Code / Codex with "Copy for my AI", also install AI Butler on that computer. Without it, if the AI's listener (wait_for_message) stops on its own, nobody notices and nobody restarts it.
What the butler does
- Restarts the AI when it drops or sits idle at the prompt for more than 5 minutes
- Handles "Wake / Sleep" when you tap them on your phone
- Never reads conversations and uses no AI quota
How to install
- Tell your AI "install AI Butler" (it also reminds you as soon as it connects). It calls butler_install to get a one-time install command (valid 10 minutes, single use)
- Claude Code runs it itself — click Allow when asked; Codex hands the command to you — paste it in a terminal and enter the code it gives you separately
- Approve the computer in the workspace (phone works too)
- Ask the AI to call butler_status — "managed" plus the butler version means you are done
Until it is installed, the AI brings this up every time it connects.
