We haven't tested either of these paths ourselves yet — the steps below follow Google's official documentation. If it doesn't work, use Claude or Codex instead, or click Report a bug in admin to let us know.
Gemini web / app (Gemini Spark, per the official docs)
There are several requirements, and all of them must be met:
- A Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription (the free plan won't work)
- You must be in the US, 18 or older, with a personal Google account (work or school accounts won't work)
- The interface language is English
Turn on two-factor authentication first: when connecting this way, your website's consent page will be marked "unverified app," and you'll have to enter your two-factor code before you can click "Allow" (this is an anti-phishing safeguard). Turn it on first under Settings → Two-factor authentication in admin, then connect; on the consent page, confirm "you'll be redirected back to" shows a Google domain, then enter the code and click Allow.
- In admin, go to AI Access → API and copy your website's AI connection address (technically called MCP) https://your-site/mcp
- In Gemini, open Settings → Connected Apps, add an app, and enter its MCP server URL (the AI connection address above)
- Follow the prompts to sign in to your website and click Allow
Gemini CLI (command line on your computer, per the official docs)
If you're not in the US, or don't have Pro / Ultra, use Gemini CLI instead.
- In admin, go to AI Access → API and click Click to copy for my AI, then paste it into Gemini CLI's chat box and let it connect itself
- If it doesn't configure itself, add this to
~/.gemini/settings.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"dlxai": {
"httpUrl": "https://your-site/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY" }
}
}
}
Generate the key under Advanced settings in admin's AI Access → API; restart Gemini CLI after making the change.
