Codex (command line / desktop app / editor plugin on your computer)
- In admin, go to AI Access → API and click Click to copy for my AI
- Paste it into Codex's chat box — it will write the config for you (
~/.codex/config.toml). If it doesn't have permission to edit the file, it will hand you one command to paste into your terminal and press enter, then restart Codex - Once connected, it will report back your website's name
Codex's command line, desktop app, and editor plugin all share the same config — connect once and it works everywhere. For writing the config by hand, or to stop it from asking at every step, see "Connect Your Website with Codex / Claude Code."
ChatGPT web (tested)
We tested this ourselves (2026-10-07: ChatGPT web connected to a site and could read its products and articles). If it doesn't work for you, use Codex above instead, or click Report a bug in your admin to let us know.
- You can only add this in the web version (chatgpt.com), and it requires Plus or higher; workspace accounts follow the workspace admin's settings
- Before adding it, turn on Developer Mode in ChatGPT Settings (in the Chinese interface: 设置 → 账户安全与登录 → 开发者模式)
- In admin, go to AI Access → API, and under "Option 2 · Sign in with a web AI like Claude or ChatGPT (no key needed)" click Copy address (this copies your website's AI connection address, technically called MCP)
- Open chatgpt.com/plugins, click "+" → Add custom MCP server
- Name it "My Website", leave the connection type as Server URL, paste in the address, and set authentication to OAuth
- Read the risk notice, then click I understand and want to continue → Create as a plugin
- Sign in to your website as prompted; check that the consent page says you'll be redirected back to chatgpt.com, then click Allow
- Back in the chat box, type @ and select "My Website," then just say what you want done
